Lakeside Elementary

The 6th graders at Lakeside Elementary took a step back in time to bring The Legend of Sleepy Hollow to life! Our talented students created their own sound effects, lighting, and scene changes, showcasing incredible teamwork and creativity. Participating in theater helps boost reading skills by improving vocabulary, comprehension, and fluency—making stories come alive in new ways! The students worked hard to portray their characters and make the story unforgettable on stage. We’re so lucky to have the BTS arts program nurturing such passion and talent right here at Lakeside!

🎤✨ Our students honored the legacy of Martin Luther King Jr. with a powerful speech contest this week! They memorized and presented 1-3 minute speeches, sharing why Dr. King’s words still resonate in their lives today. ✊🏽❤️

Beware the Giant Octopus! 🐙🌊 ​P.E. just got an epic upgrade! Our students dove into an ocean of fun with a new parachute and a GIANT OCTOPUS, transforming exercise into an underwater adventure. They weren't just playing; they were building serious strength, collaboration, and coordination skills. Who knew fitness could be so tentacle-tastic?

The Lion's Library: Where we READ, BUILD, and SUCCEED! 🛠️🧠 ​From building blocks to building bonds, our makerstations are the perfect spot for creativity and collaboration. Watching these students create together is inspiring!

Recess is the best time for discovery! These students took a moment to say "Hello grasshopper!" and ended up making a whole host of new, jumpy friends. 🌱 What a fun way to connect with nature!

Monster Buddies: Building Community with Lakeside Lions! 🦁 It's officially Monster Buddy season with Lakeside Lions! 🎉 We love pairing an older class with a younger class for fun, creative projects like these awesome monsters! This tradition does more than just fill the hallways with fantastic art; it's the foundation for building a strong sense of community and belonging. These cross-grade friendships often last all year long! Our younger students get a feeling of security and know they belong, while our older students develop a wonderful sense of responsibility and leadership. It's a win-win for everyone! Pie-tastic Principal! 🥧 Talk about a sweet reward! 🎉 Our incredible Lakeside Elementary students just hit the big 100-point mark for outstanding behavior and teamwork! That means it was time for the class to spin the Reward Wheel... and they landed on a delicious surprise! We are so proud of the students' dedication to good behavior, and as a result, they got to give Principal Lowery a little "pie in the face" action! The 6th grade students at Lakeside Elementary have been studying Roald Dahl in their language unit. Today, Mrs. Pratchett showed up to pass out treats to the students! The candy shop included "licorice bootlaces," "sherbet suckers," and "Gobstoppers."

Mrs. Davidson's class read Alice and Wonderland in their first reading unit. To celebrate, they had a Mad Hatter Tea Party with cookies and tarts and fancy lemonade with silver spoons. Luckily, the Queen of Hearts did not make "off with their heads!"

Lakeside students are building and creating unique experiences through teamwork and critical thinking.

It's been a great first week at Lakeside Elementary! Students participated in expectation rotations, worked with classmates and teachers to build relationships, and started a new year of learning and soaring high! We are looking forward to the best year ever! See you next week 😉
