Hannah Wallingford and Tracy Kellersberger guide students through outdoor learning to build language, counting and observation skills.

Speech‑Language Pathologists Hannah Wallingford and Tracy Kellersberger recently led a group lesson titled “Going on a Leaf Hunt,” bringing seasonal, experiential learning to students. After a classroom reading and drama activity based on the story, students went outdoors to collect leaves and returned to analyze, count and discuss their finds.

The lesson combined vocabulary development, oral language practice and early math skills in a single, engaging activity. Educators praised Wallingford and Kellersberger for designing creative, hands‑on lessons that motivate students and make speech practice enjoyable.

The school said the activity supports curriculum goals while encouraging curiosity and collaboration among students during the fall season.
