LAKESIDE, UT — Lakeside Elementary students Nora, Rachel, and Navy recently showcased their public speaking skills as they competed at the Davis School District Martin Luther King Jr. Speech Contest.

​These talented students represented Lakeside after being selected as winners in their respective grade categories at the school level. Nora Whisman (K-2), Rachel Banz (3-4), and Navy Nelson (5-6) delivered powerful, memorized speeches focused on the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and the profound way his message continues to influence their lives today.

​Each participant prepared an excerpt from one of Dr. King's speeches, reflecting on how his principles of justice, equality, and non-violence remain relevant. The students' thoughtful presentations demonstrated their dedication to honoring Dr. King's vision and bringing his words to life for a new generation.

​Lakeside Elementary expressed immense pride in all the participants and wished their school winners the best of luck as they await the results of the district-wide competition.
