Lakeside — Lakeside Elementary School hosted Rounds Three and Four of The Amazing Shake last week, giving students the chance to demonstrate practical life skills through a series of lively, real‑world challenges.
In Round Three, competitors faced scenarios designed to test communication, empathy and problem‑solving. Tasks included placing a phone call to cancel a subscription, gracefully accepting an unusual gift, crafting a persuasive defense of a fictional villain, taking a customer’s order, and showcasing confident dance moves. Judges evaluated students on clarity, poise, respect and creativity.
Top performers from Round Three advanced to Round Four, which took the competition beyond the classroom. In a community outreach component, advancing students visited a nearby assisted living facility where they led residents in gentle arm exercises. The visit combined service with skill demonstration, giving students a chance to connect with older adults while practicing leadership, adaptability and kindness.
Organizers praised participants for their enthusiasm and maturity. “Students approached each challenge with creativity and respect,” said a school spokesperson. “Taking the competition into the community was a powerful opportunity for both our students and the residents they met.”
Winners from Round Four will move on to this week’s round, where the school will come closer to crowning its overall Amazing Shake champion. The program, which emphasizes real‑world communication and interpersonal skills, continues to be a highlight of Lakeside’s enrichment offerings.
Parents, staff and community members are invited to follow the final competition and congratulate the students as they showcase the skills they’ve developed throughout the event.
